Just slightly better chips, cameras, screens – that’s no longer enough to attract customers. Samsung is therefore relying on artificial intelligence. But does it actually work?
That’s a nice idea with the stars. Three stylized asterisks appear when you execute one of the new functions on a smartphone from Samsung’s new flagship Galaxy S24 series, for example to remove distracting elements from images. While the system calculates, the stars dance on the screen. After all, the Korean word Samsung translates to three stars. And the idea is nice because the stars are reminiscent of how magic is often portrayed in comics. Since Arthur C. Clarke’s famous sentence, humanity has known how something like this works: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic,” the visionary British science fiction writer and physicist wrote decades ago.
