Shower or bath: when should you choose?

The main dilemma when fitting out a bathroom is, of course, deciding between a shower and a bathtub. In an XXL bathroom, you can circumvent this question by simply deciding to adopt both. In a 6 m² bathroom… well, that’s quite possible too!

Perhaps you will have to install the shower on the left or on the right of the door, and the bathtub at the end of the room. Maybe it’s smarter to opt for the tub and walk-in shower combo. Unless you install the bathtub near the door and the shower at the back, or even in the corner? The secret is simply to choose a layout that perfectly suits the layout of the room.

In a bathroom in the attic, for example, the bathtub slides under the slope. Here, we even fitted out a storage column that serves as a partition with the shower.

If the shower and bathtub combo is quite possible in a small bathroom, it remains essential to make the room as bright as possible – a tip that helps to make it look bigger. We therefore forget the opaque partition, and we preferably put on the glass.

To arrange your bathroom, you must find the right balance between your desires and your needs. For example, is your bathroom 100% dedicated to your well-being, or should other amenities be included? The shower and bathtub combo can indeed be combined with a laundry area or the toilet bowl

If you have to fit a washing machine and a toilet in your 6 m² bathroom, however, it is better to forget the shower/bathtub combo and opt instead for a large walk-in shower or a corner bath.

What decoration in a 6 m² bathroom?

In a 6 m² bathroom, special attention is paid to the brightness. It is both about making the room bigger and having a space in which you can comfortably take care of yourself.

To reconcile style and brightness, you can bet on a classic: the white and black bathroom. The easiest way is to adopt the white subway tiles on the wall, and to wake up the decor by choosing a pattern, or even a mosaic, on the floor.

A touch of color is not to be excluded. You can play on a bright contrast between white and vibrant color. To maintain a peaceful atmosphere, it is recommended to favor cold colors such as indigo blue, turquoise or duck green. If you like energizing atmospheres, you can however try your hand at the very trendy yellow bathroom.

When the amount of natural light leaves something to be desired, opt for pastel colors, which enliven the bathroom, while remaining very bright. Sky blue or light green are a very good choice to enlarge a small bathroom.

Bright Neutrals

Afraid of missing out on the choice of color? Go for a luminous neutral: sand or nude, for example.

Uniform upholstery creates a soft, contemporary aesthetic, while making the room appear larger. Polished concrete is therefore an excellent option in a 6 m² bathroom, especially if you opt for light colours. However, it is important to structure the space. You can therefore associate it with a wall tile in the shower.

Furniture and storage: the right choices in a 6 m² bathroom

Storage and vanity units remain essential in a bathroom, even when it is quite small. It is therefore important to choose them carefully.

Traditional shelves have the advantage of making use of the wall surface, whatever the configuration of a room. They can be very useful in the attic.

Ideally, the vanity unit should have spacious and varied storage. Do not hesitate to favor a suspended model, for more lightness.

White furniture remains the best ally of small bathrooms. To warm up the bathroom, however, you may prefer wooden furniture. Then favor clear species such as bamboo.

The column is an essential piece of furniture, especially in a 6 m² bathroom. Select a model with legs or suspended, which will appear less imposing.

When choosing furniture, pay special attention to depth. Narrower furniture will allow you to move around more comfortably.
