FTX US — the crypto exchange affiliate of Sam Bankman-Fried FTX — is planning to enter equity options trading after launching stock trading in all 50 U.S. states.
According to an interview with Bloomberg News, FTX US president Brett Harrison said the company is preparing to add options, but no exact date has been given.
An FTX representative said the launch of options needed regulatory review.
Options contracts are financial contracts that give the buyer the opportunity to purchase an asset at a specific price in the future. It is used as a tool to speculate on a given asset or hedge the underlying position.
