French clubs at the top, despite the Toulouse disaster at Anfield

No one will blame TFC for having suffered a defeat at Anfield (5-1 defeat) against Liverpool, and certainly not during a successful European week for French clubs. To the invincibility of Lens and the victory of PSG in the Champions League were added the victories of Marseille against AEK and Rennes on the pitch of Panathinaikos in the Europa League and Losc against Bratislava in the Europa Conference League. A good boost for the UEFA coefficient, obviously.

Small curiosity all the same, over the current season, the ranking of the UEFA index by nations is dominated by Turkey and Belgium under the effect of the preliminary rounds and the play-offs for the various European competitions, in which have logically been less involved the major nations, including France. Ligue 1 is thus 9th behind the Netherlands but also Greece. Don’t panic, however: if things go well and continue in the right direction, the French clubs will pass in front of this small world through qualification in the round of 16 of C1, C3 and Conference.

The L1 is falling behind on the Eredivisie

At the overall coefficient, that calculated over the five previous seasons, France, 6th, is falling behind the Netherlands, who are more or less 0.8 points ahead of the French championship (57,100 for the Eredivisie, 56,331 for the L1) . In this direct confrontation between countries, OM would be well advised to push Ajax out of their group. For the moment, the plan is a success: Marseille is leader of Group B of the Europa League and the Amsterdam team is last. To be confirmed in the coming weeks.
