Overcrowded parking lots, full sunbathing areas and far too many people in the water: space is getting tight at Munich’s bathing lakes. Now a new excursion destination is to be created – but it will take a while until then.
The dream of a bathing lake in Freiham seems to be coming true. Next Thursday, the results of a feasibility study will be presented in the municipal committee of the city council, and they are obviously very pleasing, as the third mayor Verena Dietl (SPD), who chairs the Freiham association, says. In any case, she sees a possible bathing lake in Freiham as a “great opportunity for the west of Munich” and emphasizes: “Only a few areas on the outskirts of Munich are suitable for the construction of a new bathing lake in terms of size and connection.”
