Freight plane landing accident: flights have finally resumed at Montpellier airport

After the runway excursion of a plane transporting freight which had ended its race in the Mauguio pond, on the night of Friday 23 to Saturday 24 September, no more liaison was assured. A plane from Copenhagen was the first to land on Monday, September 26 at the start of the afternoon.

After two and a half days of traffic suspension caused by the runway excursion of a cargo plane, Montpellier-Méditerranée airport is gradually resuming its activities. A first plane landed this Monday, September 26 at 1:30 p.m. from Copenhagen.

Since the runway excursion of the plane carrying La Poste’s freight, which occurred overnight from Friday to Saturday, no more aircraft movements were possible at Montpellier-Méditerranée airport. Two and a half days will have been necessary for several hundred actors, united and mobilized, to evacuate the damaged Boeing and create the conditions for recovery.

Initially announced at 9.45 a.m., it was the flight from Copenhagen, operated by the Norwegian company which, landing at 1.30 p.m., marked the start of this recovery.

After him, all other flights not canceled, not relieved or not diverted by the companies will also resume. Montpellier-Méditerranée airport invites travelers – and their potential companions – to check with their company that the flight and its schedule are maintained.
