Free State forgives Egon Greipl half of his debts – Bavaria

An agreement is emerging between the Free State and its former top monument conservator, Egon Johannes Greipl. The State Office for Finance (LfF) is ready to reduce the damages that Greipl should pay – from more than 900,000 to around 450,000 euros. This can be heard from state parliament circles, from Greipl environment this sum was already announced in December. He will take a close look at the proposal and “probably sign it,” said Greipl on Thursday.

According to the Regensburg Administrative Court, Greipl, as general conservator of the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments (BLfD), has concluded numerous employment contracts without paying social security contributions. The Free State had to pay back – and through a lawsuit reached that Greipl had to bear the damage itself. He collected around 50,000 euros from a fundraising campaign that is still ongoing. A petition that Greipl and supporters had submitted to the state parliament got the rolling of the estate negotiations.
