The next trip is just a few clicks away: the Internet has long been one of the most important marketplaces for flights, hotel accommodation and package tours. Half of all vacations of at least five days were booked online in 2022, according to the latest figures from the Association of Internet Travel Sales (VIR). Ten years ago it was less than 30 percent. The proportion is even higher if you include short trips: 60 percent of all trips with at least one overnight stay were made via digital channels.
