Franziska Weisz: This is Wotan’s partner in the “crime scene”

1. Franziska Weisz was born on May 4, 1980 in Vienna. However, she grew up in the small community of Breitenfurt, a few kilometers from the capital.

2. She came to film more or less by accident. She actually wanted to model, but her agency sent her to a film casting. Director Ulrich Seidl jumped at the chance and cast her for his gloomy study in the suburbs “dog days”. In it she plays a young woman who is constantly being humiliated by her boyfriend. With this role, Franziska Weisz became known overnight.

3. In the same year she was engaged by the Austrian director Michael Haneke for his film adaptation of Elfriede Jelinek’s novel “The Piano Player”.

4. In 2005 she received a nomination for the Austrian film award Romy in the category “Most Popular Female Shooting Star”, but the award then went to the German actress Tanja Wedhorn.

5. She was honored as a “Shooting Star” at the Berlinale in 2005.

6. She proved in 2010 that she was right to receive this award: she traveled to the Berlinale. This time as the leading actress in the competition entry “The Robber”. In the film, Weisz plays the partner of the bank robber Johann, who is played by Andreas Lust – with whom she gets along well privately.

7. Since 2012 she has been with the Director Felix Herzogenrath who she met while filming the ZDF series “Die Bergretter”. In the summer of 2015, the couple married.

8. In addition to acting, the Viennese is also active in music: she is the singer the Viennese cover band Jawoi, which continues to perform despite the acting successes of Franziska Weisz.

9. She is trained business economist. She studied in Vienna, Leicester and at the renowned King’s College in London, where she did a Masters in Development and Environment.

10. Since March 20, 2016, Franziska Weisz has been the new investigator in the “crime scene” in northern Germany. She follows Petra Schmidt-Schaller as a partner of Wotan Wilke Moehring, with whom she is also privately friends. For her, the role is a dream: “My whole family watches ‘Tatort'”, says Weiss. “On the evening of the premiere, we will all be sitting in front of the television together with our hearts beating.”
