Filming for the fourth “Bridget Jones” film begins in the spring. Renée Zellweger is already looking for a place to stay in London.

With her ups and downs in love life and weight as well as her inimitable clumsiness and unhealthy consumption of Chardonnay and cigarettes Bridget Jones became a cult figure in the romantic comedy “Bridget Jones – Chocolate for Breakfast” (“Bridget Jones’s Diary”, 2001). The key dates for the fourth part of the popular novel adaptation have now been determined.

Renée Zellweger will be filming in London from May

As the Mail on Sunday reports, filming for a fourth film will begin in London in May, 23 years after Helen Fielding’s (66) heroine first appeared on screen. Pre-production is said to be in full swing.

Oscar winner Renée Zellweger (54), who will once again take on the title role, is said to be already looking for a house for herself and her boyfriend, British television presenter Ant Anstead (44). The two will live there during their stay in Great Britain for filming. During earlier filming she rented a bachelor pad in Kensington, west London. But this time, the couple is reportedly looking for something bigger.

The cast is also expected to see Colin Firth (63) and Hugh Grant (63), who played love rivals Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver in the first two films, returning to their roles in some form.

Bridget Jones got married – what happens in part four?

In the third film, “Bridget Jones’s Baby” (2016), Jones married lawyer Mark Darcy and had a baby – which, after some back and forth, turned out to actually be his. Hugh Grant did not appear in this film as Daniel Cleaver is presumed dead at the beginning. However, at the end of the film there was a newspaper report that said he had been found alive…

The new and fourth film is being made eight years after the third part and is again based on a Fielding novel. In “Bridget Jones – Mad About The Boy”, 2013), the single mother of two small children, Bridget Jones, is in her early 50s and deals with social media and dating apps. However, her husband Mark Darcy is dead in the book and Jones is his widow. It is unknown whether the film adaptation will stick to this.

In 2001, Renée Zellweger slipped into Bridget Jones’ infamous granny underpants for the first time. The Texan received her first Oscar nomination for her portrait of the British cult figure. The comedy grossed £222 million at the box office – more than ten times the cost of production. “Bridget Jones – Chocolate for Breakfast” was followed by the sequel “Bridget Jones – On the Edge of Madness” in 2004 and the late third part in 2016.
