Four years in prison with a committal warrant were requested this Wednesday against Gérard Gallas, a slumlord accused of having rented 122 unsanitary apartments in the northern districts of Marseille, mainly to asylum seekers and illegal immigrant.
At the end of a short one-hour indictment before the sixth chamber of the Marseille criminal court, prosecutor Guillaume Bricier denounced the “method” applied by the former police officer, a sort of “industrialization of rental of completely degraded housing” with the aim of “profit maximization”.
The public prosecutor also requested a fine of 75,000 euros and the confiscation of the sum of 220,000 euros already seized by the courts.
