Four years in prison for violently assaulting his girlfriend

A 33-year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison, including eighteen months suspended, by the Béziers criminal court. He was found guilty of assaulting his concubine and stealing her phone. He had already been sentenced in 2015 to a two-month suspended prison sentence for violence and in 2018 to a fine for false denunciation.

The facts took place on February 24 in Pont-de-Metz (Somme), at the home of a 25-year-old woman. Bearing traces of violence all over her body, and suffering from a fracture of the left orbital floor, she had to be hospitalized with ten days of total incapacity for work.

In police custody, he pretends to be a victim

The placing of his companion’s vehicle under surveillance had made it possible to locate him in Agde (Hérault), where he had been arrested on March 2. “During his police custody, he had claimed that he was not the author of this violence, even accusing the victim of having hit him”, specifies the public prosecutor, Raphaël Balland.

In addition to four years in prison with continued detention, the court sentenced him to an obligation to work and take care of himself, as well as a ban on coming into contact with the victim and appearing at his home for three years. that will follow the release of his detention. The court also ordered the prohibition to possess a weapon for five years and the deprivation of the right of eligibility for three years.
