It is the height of the apple harvest in the orchards of western France. And one of the farms was the scene of a spectacular industrial accident on Monday. The facts happened in Chenu, a small town located between Le Mans and Tours.
Four employees, recruited for the season, were picking apples from an elevator when it tipped over. The four seasonal workers, aged 44 to 66, could not cling to the platform on which they were installed, about 4 m high, and fell heavily to the ground, reports West France.
They were quickly taken care of by the Sarthe firefighters and fortunately only suffered minor injuries. The victims were transferred to several hospitals. The unevenness of the ground could be at the origin of the movement of the hydraulic machine.
