Four men indicted for kidnapping in connection with Maurepas double murder

Retaliation was to be feared. Bullying too. On Saturday, an 18-year-old man was kidnapped in Rennes. His captors obviously wanted to obtain information on the man indicted after the double murder of Maurepas. Four men suspected of having carried out this abduction have been arrested and indicted, said Rennes public prosecutor Philippe Astruc, confirming information from West France.

On March 28, two men aged 28 and 34 were killed by bursts of automatic weapon fire. A helmeted and gloved individual who had had an altercation with dealers from the Gros Chêne slab presented himself armed in the evening and fired at the group of young people posted under the arcades of the shopping center. The shots left two dead and one seriously injured. The suspect, a 22-year-old man born in Mayotte, was arrested in Mamoudzou. In police custody, he remained silent. His partner, suspected of having helped him leave mainland France, was also indicted.

According to investigators, the abduction of the 18-year-old young man on Saturday in the same neighborhood would have a link with this killing. The victim was able to be “identified and interviewed” and “benefits from a three-day ITT”, said prosecutor Philippe Astruc. Alerted by witnesses to the facts on Saturday around 8 p.m. in the Maurepas district, the police spotted the vehicle corresponding to the report less than an hour later. The victim was no longer there and the four men on board, born between 1999 and 2004, were arrested. “The facts appear to be linked to the facts of the recent double homicide in this district, the defendants wishing to obtain information on the entourage of the person indicted for these facts”, specified the magistrate. All were remanded in custody.
