The tragedy occurred on the departmental 307 near Bailly, a few kilometers from Versailles. Four people from the same family were killed in a serious car accident that occurred on Friday night, firefighters and the gendarmerie told AFP.
According to the military, the driver of a Peugeot 206, aged 20, lost control of his vehicle, crossing the dividing rail and colliding head-on with cars arriving in the opposite direction. Tests for alcohol and drug use were negative.
Another vehicle hit, occupants unhurt but shocked
He first hit a Renault Espace containing two parents, aged 62 and 71, their 32-year-old daughter and her 34-year-old partner. These four people died. A third vehicle, in which a 34-year-old woman and her 2- and 3-year-old children were traveling, was also struck. They were not injured, but this mother was in a state of shock, according to the firefighters.
The driver who caused the accident was transported to the Percy military hospital, in Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine), in absolute emergency. Four ambulances, a nursing vehicle, two road emergency vehicles and a fire van were dispatched to the scene. The gendarmerie, municipal police and the mobile emergency and resuscitation service (Smur) were also mobilized to the scene of the accident.
