Four indictments for “attempted assassination” after the attack on the Hagondange police station

Fifteen people were indicted, including four for attempted assassination, after their arrest as part of the investigation into the attack on the Hagondange police station, in Moselle, during the riots at the end of June, Yves Badorc said on Saturday , the public prosecutor of Metz.

On the night of June 29 to 30, that is to say during the third evening of riots following the death of young Nahel in Nanterre, several dozen people stormed the Hagondange station and the neighboring police station in which a police officer.

The attackers attacked the police station with stones and fireworks but were unable to enter the police premises. They had seriously damaged the front door, partially set on fire, and three police officers were slightly injured in Hagondange during this night of violence.

More than six months later, the dragnet that took place on Wednesday mobilized “130 police officers, including investigators from the judicial police, with support crews, including the BRI (research and intervention brigade) and the RAID in assistance,” said a police source. In total, sixteen people, including six minors, were arrested. They are aged between 17 and 30 years old.

“One of them was left free,” said the Metz prosecutor. “And of the fifteen indictments, four adults were placed in pre-trial detention, one minor was placed in a closed educational center, as for the others, they are under judicial supervision,” Yves Badorc further clarified.

“People placed in pre-trial detention find themselves with several counts of offense held against them, such as criminal association, destruction of property by dangerous means, possession and transport of incendiary products but above all attempted “assassination”, underlined the prosecutor. Indeed, during the attack, the station chief was stuck in the police station, unable to get out.
