“We were shocked,” recalls Ariane Rüdiger from the Forum Queer Archive Munich at an event. In 2017, the association, which was then called Forum Homosexualität München, invited people to a memorial ceremony for Karl Heinz Ulrichs. In order to honor the historical contributions of the sexual science pioneer to homosexual emancipation, Wolfram Setz, the leading German Ulrichs specialist, was hired. But the speaker hijacked his speaking time: for a few minutes he urged the audience to support pedophilia, i.e. sex between adults and children before puberty. “We were completely ashamed,” says Rüdiger. Everyone was petrified and no one turned off the microphone for the pedo-activist.
