Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz has secured pole position for the Formula 1 race in Monza. The Spaniard relegated Red Bull driver Max Verstappen (+0.013 seconds) to second place in 1:20.294 minutes to the loud cheers of the Scuderia fans.

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz has secured pole position for the Formula 1 race in Monza. The Spaniard relegated Red Bull driver Max Verstappen (+0.013 seconds) to second place in 1:20.294 minutes to the loud cheers of the Scuderia fans.

It was Sainz’s first pole of the season and the fourth of his career overall. Third in the Italian Grand Prix in front of the home fans starts on Sunday (3 p.m. / Sky) Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc (+0.067 seconds).

Before the 14th race of the season on the high-speed circuit north of Milan, Verstappen leads the championship standings by a huge margin. The Dutchman is already 138 points ahead of his team-mate Sergio Perez.
