Formula 1 surprise is looming |
HE fights with Mick for the Haas cockpit
The good news for all German Formula 1 fans before the race on Sunday in Singapore: a German will also be driving in Formula 1 in the coming season!
It’s about the free cockpit of Haas, next to Williams and Alpine the only team with a free seat for 2023. According to BILD information, two Germans are fighting for this car: In addition to Mick Schumacher (23), whose contract is expiring, there is also Nico Hülkenberg (35) a candidate with the US racing team. Denmark’s Kevin Magnussen (29) has secured his place.
Haas team boss Günther Steiner (57): “We don’t yet have a clear vision of what we want next year. Is it speed? is it experience That is why we will take the necessary time.”
► Mick and his management are talking to the US racing team. However, the relationship between the parties is considered tense. Good for Mick: The team doesn’t force any quick decisions. It is possible that the cockpit will not be awarded for the Mexico race until the end of October. Schumi Jr. would have three more races until then to continue to advertise itself.
Steiner: “Of course it’s also a factor what Mick is doing these weeks and how he’s developing.”
► According to BILD information, Hülkenberg is also in talks with Haas. He currently works part-time and is a reserve driver at Aston Martin. At the start of the season he replaced Vettel, who was suffering from Corona – and convinced. Despite his 35 years, he is in excellent physical condition, training in his adopted home of Monaco.
