Formula 1 shows off excessive celebrations in Las Vegas

Formula 1 is returning to Las Vegas after 41 years – and it’s going to be a blast. The racing circus kicked off the racing weekend in the Nevada desert with a mega show in front of tens of thousands of spectators. Lots of glitter, lasers and fireworks and numerous stars appeared at the opening show on Wednesday evening. These included Kylie Minogue, John Legend and the band Thirty Seconds to Mars. They played not far from the legendary Las Vegas Boulevard, the so-called Strip. A light show with drones illuminated the impressive night scenery. On the start-finish straight, the drivers around Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who has long been established as world champion, were presented to the audience.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix is the prestige project from Formula 1 rights holder Liberty Media. The racing series is expected to continue to grow in the booming US market. There had already been races in the gambling metropolis in 1981 and 1982. At the time, the events held in the parking lot behind the Caesars Palace Hotel received little attention.
