Formula 1: Now it’s official! McLaren announces contract hammer

Zak Brown has been with Papaya since 2016. The American started at McLaren as Executive Director and was promoted to CEO in 2018. Since then, he has shaped the traditional racing team back into a top team in Formula 1.

As the British racing team announced after the second free training session in Australia, their journey together will continue in the future. Brown has extended his contract with the Formula 1 team and will continue to pull the strings at McLaren in the coming years.

Formula 1: McLaren extends contract with Zak Brown

Brown is one of the tough dogs among team bosses. The 52-year-old has developed his team enormously over the course of his tenure. With Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, Papaya has one of the youngest and best driver duos in the field. Together we would like to further advance this development and bring McLaren back to the Formula 1 Olympus.

“Zak has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and has been instrumental in driving McLaren Racing forward. His extension reflects our confidence in his ability to lead the team to even greater success in the coming years,” said Paul Walsh, Executive Chairman of McLaren Racing’s parent company.

Brown is also visibly happy about the contract extension. “I am thrilled to continue to lead McLaren Racing and be part of such a historic racing team. It is a privilege to work with the talented men and women across McLaren Racing’s various racing series. Together we will continue to push the boundaries of motorsport and strive for peak performance on and off the track,” says Brown, looking forward to the years to come.

New mega contract for Brown

With Brown’s new working paper, McLaren is making a big statement. Brown’s new contract runs until 2030. This underlines the Formula 1 racing team’s great trust in him and is committed to continuity. This should also be well received by the drivers. Both Norris and Piastri are said to have a very good relationship with Brown.
