Formula 1: Next Hamilton hammer! Star announces immediate withdrawal

The buzz about his change to Ferrari hasn’t died down yet, and Lewis Hamilton is already causing the next blow. The record Formula 1 world champion has made a drastic decision.

While he is racing for Mercedes in Formula 1 for the last time, his own racing team is withdrawing. Despite great success, “X44” will no longer compete in the up-and-coming Extreme E with immediate effect. The racing series is losing a figurehead and a title favorite shortly before the start of the season.

Formula 1: Hamilton announces withdrawal from electric racing series

In the premier class he is one of the best of all time – and he has already left his mark on the still young Extreme E. When the racing series started in 2021, Hamilton was immediately there with his own team. Over the years, this has resulted in heated duels with the racing team of his former teammate and arch-rival Nico Rosberg.

Hamilton withdraws from Extreme E

The seven-time Formula 1 world champion surprisingly announced that he would withdraw his team “X44” (based on his F1 starting number) from the racing series. And that’s ten days before the start of the season!

“After three years as part of the Extreme E family, we are announcing today that the X44 is leaving the series,” the racing team said on Wednesday (February 7). “We had an incredible three seasons as X44, winning several races and even a world championship.”
