Formula 1: Max Verstappen, the insatiable little caterpillar – Sport

Max Verstappen managed a perfect weekend in Spielberg. But because Lewis Hamilton and others constantly get off the track, the first thing to do is moan and snitch like in kindergarten – then the Grand Prix ends in a jumble of rules.

Of course, Max Verstappen also managed the last stunt of this race weekend, three laps before the end he took the risk. His lead over second-placed Charles Leclerc was 24 seconds, and he could have just tumbled over the finish line if he was lucky. But that’s not enough for him. In order to snag that one damn point for the fastest race lap as well, he drove out to the pits, had fresh tires screwed on – and grabbed a point that he won’t need in the final accounts of the season anyway. “It wasn’t a risk for me,” he said later in a relaxed voice, “but my team was definitely nervous.” Verstappen, the insatiable caterpillar – or, as they say in his native Netherlands: de erg horny burps.
