Formula 1: Haas takes a big step – Hülkenberg looks into the tube

After four races in Formula 1, Haas is doing much better than the racing team itself would have expected. The US racing team has already scored four points in total, three of which go to German racing driver Nico Hülkenberg.

Haas took a step forward during the winter break, but does not want to rest on its current status. While the competition has already brought updates, Haas will be bringing new parts for the first time in China. This should make the Formula 1 car even better. However, Nico Hülkenberg still has to wait.

Formula 1: Haas brings an update to China

The first major update from Haas was originally planned for the Italian Grand Prix (May 19th). The first parts will now be finished in China. According to information from “Auto Motor Sport”, these will only be available in two versions.

Haas is therefore planning to apply the update to only one car – that of Hülkenberg’s teammate Kevin Magnussen. The problem: If both drivers received the update, they would have to start from the pits in the event of an accident. Converting to the old parts would be a “specification change”.

Hülkenberg has to wait

According to the report, Magnussen will be the first to receive the upgrade because he has already put himself into the service of the team several times this season and has helped Hülkenberg extremely well, including in Saudi Arabia. Magnussen also has to watch the first free practice session in Imola as rookie Oliver Bearman gets his chance. The complete update will come in Imola.

The aim of the upgrade is an improvement in fast corners. “You try to gain as much as possible on one end without losing too much on the other. An upgrade is only released when the best possible compromise has been achieved,” Haas technical director Andrea de Zordo is quoted by “Auto Motor Sport”.
