Where is the winter? Germany’s carnivalists can sometimes look forward to double-digit temperatures during the parades. And also for rain-free celebrations?

The German Weather Service (DWD) advises carnivalists Rose Monday to a “costume with a rainproof headgear” or an umbrella in your pocket. At the end of the crazy time on Violet Tuesday, the risk of rain decreases. Overall, Germany is expecting an unstable and mild week of weather without heavy, long-lasting rain.

According to the DWD in Offenbach on Sunday, there are sometimes gaps in the clouds with a few rays of sunshine on Rose Monday. Nevertheless, showers continue to sweep across the country. It will be mild at 7 to 11 degrees, only in the northeast it will remain a little cooler. On Violet Tuesday, the influence of high pressure increases with larger gaps in clouds and more sunshine. Light showers are rare with mild temperatures.

On Ash Wednesday, a low will make itself felt over the North Sea. A warm front is crossing Germany towards the east with rain. In the west the temperatures rise to 10 to 15 degrees, in the east they reach 6 to 10 degrees. Thursday will be even milder in the Republic with temperatures of 10 to 17 degrees. “Winter is getting a long way off,” explains Markus Böse from the DWD.
