Food poisoning on vacation: where germs lurk in food and drink

The risk of food poisoning is particularly high in summer. Dangerous germs are not only lurking on vacation.

A sun lounger with a view of the sea, bare toes in the warm sand, ice cubes clinking in a glass – does that sound like a perfect vacation day? Nearly. If it weren’t for the ice cubes that only a few hours later ensure that the day ends on the toilet with stomach cramps and diarrhea. Ice cubes are a common cause of food poisoning, especially in countries where tap water is undrinkable. But they are by no means the only reason why the body reacts with resistance after a drink or a meal and does everything possible to get rid of what has been ingested.
