A dead man was recovered from the Regnitz in Erlangen on Friday. After an initial check, the criminal police assumes that it is the 27-year-old who has been missing since Tuesday.
Passers-by had observed how the man near the Wöhrmühle weir was swept away by the current of the Regnitz and pulled under the water while bathing. Since then he has been reported missing. Police, fire brigade, DLRG, water rescue and rescue services searched for him on Tuesday with extensive campaigns.
On Friday, water sports enthusiasts discovered the dead man near the weir at the Werker hydroelectric power station, the police headquarters in Middle Franconia said. This is about two kilometers away from the Wöhrmühle. Firefighters rescued the body from the water.
