Flashed at 240 km/h on a secondary road, a relaxed biker

He can thank the justice system which was particularly lenient with him. Friday, a 34-year-old motorcyclist was on trial before the Lorient police court for excessive speeding, reports West France. The facts date back to August 7, 2022. Riding a powerful Yamaha motorcycle that can only be driven on a circuit, the thirty-year-old was chased by the gendarmes of the motorized brigade while he was driving at high speed on the departmental road between Baud and Pontivy in Morbihan.

Relying on the speedometer of their machine, the gendarmes estimated that the biker was traveling at 240 km/h before finally retaining the speed of 216 km/h, which still resulted in the seizure of his car. But Friday during the hearing, the biker was acquitted for his speeding violation. The prosecutor in fact considered that the speed control carried out by the gendarmes was not valid because the speedometer on their motorcycles was “not calibrated like radars are, nor checked every month”.

Given the benefit of the doubt, the thirty-year-old was therefore acquitted. However, he will have to pay two fines of 250 euros and impound costs.
