Perfect transfer: Benjamin Goller is moving from SV Werder Bremen to 1. FC Nürnberg.

The sparrows were already whistling it from the rooftops, and now Werder Bremen has officially confirmed the transfer: Benjamin Goller will move to 1. FC Nürnberg in January.

Benjamin Goller will move to 1. FC Nürnberg at the start of the January transfer window. With a guest player’s license, the 23-year-old will start team training with the second division club on Monday.

“Benjamin has repeatedly shown his skills at his previous stations. Now he should take his next development step with us,” said Nuremberg’s sporting director Dieter Hecking.

Injury threw Goller back at Werder

After an outstanding summer preparation, Werder had actually planned with Goller. But the youngster then got injured and moved back into the second tier; during the season he did not get a chance in Bremen.

“Benni had played a good preparation before he was unfortunately thrown back by an injury. After that he couldn’t get the playing practice he would have liked, so he would now like to take on a new challenge,” explained Clemens Fritz, head of the licensed players department at Werder the decision.

His career should now be boosted at 1. FC Nürnberg. The Franconians themselves can look back on a disappointing first half of the season after having set themselves high goals. After 17 matchdays, Nürnberg could only collect 19 points and is in eleventh place.

Move to Nuremberg: That’s what Goller and Rebbe say

“I made a conscious decision to move to Nuremberg. The talks with Dieter Hecking, Olaf Rebbe and Markus Weinzierl convinced me of FCN’s path. In addition, I can identify very well with the goals of 1. FC Nuremberg,” said the newcomer about his move to Nuremberg.

Sports director Olaf Rebbe was already enthusiastic about the youngster: “Benjamin Goller can be used on the wing and suits us well with his speed and intensive style of play. In addition to his experience in the Bundesliga, he has already played in the 2nd Bundesliga in Darmstadt and Karlsruhe and knows That’s what matters to us. We’re delighted that he’s starting a new chapter in his career with us.”
