Most players don’t need more than five hours to play through the story of MW3. This short playing time can mainly be attributed to the turbulent development of the new Call of Duty. Why is MW3’s campaign so short? The main reason for MW3’s short and uninnovative campaign is probably due to the short development time of the new Call of Duty. That’s half the time that a new CoD normally takes to develop.
Modern Warfare 3 was originally planned as an expansion for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. However, Activision decided against this plan and commissioned a full-fledged Call of Duty for release in fall 2023. At 16 months, Modern Warfare 3 is now the Call of Duty with the shortest development time in the entire shooter series. There is still a CoD every year because more than 3 studios work alternately.
How long is the story of MW3? To complete the entire MW3 campaign, players need an average of around five hours of playing time. If you take your time or play on a higher level of difficulty, you can achieve a time of seven hours. This makes MW3 probably the shortest Call of Duty to date.
