Five for Munich: from the Bavarian film metropolis – Munich

He knows what will happen next after his Munich Tatort colleagues Udo Wachtveitl and Miroslav Nemec withdraw Ferdinand Hofer not yet. The 31-year-old, who can speak Bavarian perfectly, is in demand as an actor, but also for other productions. He has been busy in front of the camera in the past few months. His work can now be seen, 2024 will be a Ferdi Hofer television year. As Kalli Hammermann, now promoted to senior inspector, the Upper Bavarian with the boyish smile will be seen again in three new Tatort films. On February 4th in the episode “Wunderkind”, in which inspectors Batic and Leitmayr investigate with Hammermann in the prison environment. He still has a lot of fun with the crime series even after ten years, explained Hofer at the BR film brunch last Friday in the Literaturhaus, where Wachtveitl raved about him: “Ferdl is great!” But he recommends a new series, especially to younger viewers: “School of Champions”. It’s close to his heart because it’s about skiing, says Hofer. He plays the tough coach Albin, who wants to push his young protégés to achieve top performance. Hofer comes from a town near Miesbach and has been on the boards since he was three years old. “I love skiing,” he says, “it’s part of me.” Outdoor sports are particularly important to him. This is the only way to appreciate nature. Hofer also spends a lot of time in the fresh air in the Eberhofer crime novels as Max Simmerl. The film “Rehragout-Rendezvous”, which was severely reprimanded by author Rita Falk, is now coming to the ARD media library.

Had no time for film awards or film balls Julia von Heinz. The director and HFF professor is in the middle of finishing her new feature film “Treasure” (co-produced by BR), which is scheduled to celebrate its world premiere at the Berlinale in February. There isn’t much time left: “We still have a lot to do, I’m commuting a lot between Bavaria and Berlin at the moment,” says the filmmaker who lives with her family on Lake Ammersee. Her film is about the effects of the Holocaust on future generations. A topic that also occupied her in “Hanna’s Journey” and “And Tomorrow the Whole World”. It tells the story of a New Yorker who travels through Poland with her father – looking for the places where the murdered family members once lived. For the first time, Julia von Heinz filmed with international stars, including “Girls” creator Lena Dunham, the Briton Stephen Fry and the Pole Zbigniew Zamachowski. “Treasure” will be in theaters in the fall.

Munich is not the fashion city it once was and would still like to be. But at least if you want glitter on the catwalk, then it’s the Munich designer duo Johnny Talbot and Adrian Runhof a tried and tested contact point. The two are internationally known, and anyone who dresses with them can rely on the quality of the fabrics and good tailoring. Trends are not that important to them, Runhof emphasized in an interview in 2023. Twilight star Kristen Stewart may not have been fully aware of all this when she showed up to an Oscar pre-event in LA years ago wearing a shimmering Talbot Runhof ensemble. For the Munich fashion designers, however, Stewart’s choice was a great PR moment. The appearances of local celebrities in Talbot Runhof dresses receive less attention worldwide, but should still have a pleasant advertising effect for the people of Munich. A spokeswoman for the fashion house proudly announces that the actresses Maya Haddad, Lara Mandoki and Vanessa Eichholz dressed for this year’s film award. Filmball presenter also proves this Nina Eichinger Awareness of their hometown. Her fuchsia dress with colorful crystals is a Talbot Runhof creation. Also the actress born in Brandenburg Anna Loos sets an example for domestic creativity with her shimmering gold sequin gown. The label expressly points out that the prominent women are “dressed” but not “equipped”. That means you don’t provide them with a nice wardrobe for free.

Nickname

Sönke Wortmann has never been affected by the phenomenon of giving nicknames; his first name is simply too short for that. But now that, after his film “The First Name”, a chamber play from 2018, the successful “The Last Name” was shown in 2022 with the same cast and ambience, “The Nickname” will now also be filmed in the spirit of the series successes. This time, however, in the Alps, “the scope is expanded a little,” says Wortmann on the sidelines of the film ball, where everyone calls him Sönke and no one calls him Worti, which is what he would most likely fear.

Florian Gallenberger has benefited from his own sports career in his current film project. The 2001 Oscar winner has just filmed the story of tennis greats Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi for Amazon. The sports scenes will most likely not be objectionable. Gallenberger was “really good” at tennis even as a young man. Multiple Munich champion, on the podium at German championships and participant in the BMW Open. There was no professional career, but he is now in the world director rankings.
