The sexual abuse helpline has been around for ten years. There are hundreds of consultations every month.

More and more people affected are turning to the sexual help line Abuse. In the past ten years there have been 50,000 counseling sessions, said the federal government’s abuse commissioner, Kerstin Claus, on ZDF. “The trend is increasing.” Every month there are 500 telephone consultations and 250 to 300 online. “That’s quite a lot.”

Claus commented on the tenth anniversary of this offer. The sexual abuse helpline is operated by the National Infoline association, a network and contact point for sexual violence against girls and boys, and supported by the abuse commissioner. The telephone is a low-threshold, well-received offer, said Claus.

According to the information, the helpline is intended to be a contact point for those affected by sexual violence in childhood and youth, for relatives and people from children’s social circles and for specialists.
