Five departments on orange rain-flood vigilance

Vigilance will be required Monday evening in five departments in eastern France. Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, Ain and Jura have been placed on orange rain-flood alert by Météo-France in its latest bulletin published at 6 a.m. “The disturbed system, called “Bernard”, comes back from Spain giving precipitation over the Pyrenees and part of the south of the country. It is accompanied by a clear strengthening of the wind on the Pyrenean ridges, the Autan corridor, the Massif Central, the coast of the Gulf of Lion. explains the public body on its site.

The episode will require special attention Monday evening and until Tuesday morning. “A rain-storm axis will set up from the Cévennes to the Jura,” specifies Météo-France. “The stormy rains will lead to significant amounts of precipitation generally between 70 and 100 mm in the departments placed on orange alert. We could occasionally exceed 100 mm between Ardèche and Ain,” he adds.

In order to take as little risk as possible, residents of these departments are invited to follow some safety instructions such as staying away from waterways, not taking a submerged road, avoiding traveling in general and keep yourself informed.
