The first of the four young peregrine falcons at the Nuremberg Imperial Castle dared to take its first flight on Sunday morning. His three siblings will probably follow him in the foreseeable future, as the Central Franconian government announced. This means that the young birds have a good time: they fledge after about 40 days of nesting.
Since 2013, a total of 30 chicks have grown up and fledged in the castle. They can be observed via installed webcams. According to information, around 2.1 million views were counted before the first flight this year.
Those interested in watching the birds of prey live via webcam on the Internet can continue to do so in the next few weeks: the young birds will continue to stay nearby, train their flight muscles and learn to hunt from the adult birds. Sometimes they are also fed. It wasn’t until the beginning of August that the family group broke up.
