Energie Cottbus lost the first of two promotion games against SpVgg Unterhaching on Wednesday evening 1:2 (1:2). Niclas Anspach (6th minute) and Mathias Fetsch (37th) netted for the champion of the regional league Bayern, Jonas Hildebrandt meanwhile equalized for energy (14th). The Hachinger have thus taken a big first step towards promotion to the third division, while the Lausitzer with a suboptimal starting position in the second leg on Sunday (1 p.m., live on rbb television and in the rbb|24 stream).
In front of the atmospheric backdrop of the 17,580 spectators in the Stadium of Friendship, both teams played forward with open eyes from the start. The guests recorded the first conclusion of the game through Patrick Hobsch (4th). Maximilian Oesterhelweg announced the Cottbus team a pointer later with a dangerous long-range shot that just went over the goal (5th).
Cottbus equalizes a cold shower with a goal from the point – Haching remains dangerous
After a long shot by Hachinger keeper Rene Vollath, Niclas Anspach switched the fastest in the hustle and poked the ball into the net for the visitors from Bavaria to take an early lead (6′). But it didn’t take long for the home side to pull themselves out of the cold shower – courtesy of Spielvereinigung. Because it was Haching’s David Pisot who got the ball on his arm after a cross and persuaded referee Timo Gerach to point to the point. Jonas Hildebrandt confidently converted the somewhat flattering penalty kick in the lower left corner: 1:1 (14th).
As a result, it remained an entertaining and balanced duel with chances for both sides. Haching’s striker Hobsch missed the best opportunity to take the lead, failing to hit the crossbar with a remarkable header (24′). But in the 37th minute, the team of head coach Sandro Wagner struck again ice cold: Cottbus couldn’t get the ball out of the danger zone after a cross, instead Simon Skarlatidis came to the end after a good pass from Manuel Stiefler from a central position, which his teammate Mathias Fetsch still untenable – albeit probably unintentionally – deflected to lead the guests again. By the time the half-time whistle was whistle, Energie hadn’t had any significant chances.
Cottbus does not find any solutions in the second round
The team coached by Claus-Dieter Wollitz came out of the dressing room with fresh impetus: A powerful long-range shot by Arnel Kujovic went just wide of the top left corner of the goal (47′). After that, however, Unterhaching didn’t allow any more clear scoring chances for the time being.
In the 58th minute it was Energy goalkeeper Elias Bethke who prevented the preliminary decision by scratching a Hobsch header off the line. The game was now noticeably rougher and more disorganized. Energy increased, Haching defended passionately, “Pele” Wollitz complained – and was cautioned with a yellow card (64th). Vollath defused the most promising opportunity for FCE in the 84th minute. After 90 minutes – and a lush stoppage time of seven minutes – it remained at 1: 2.
The second leg takes place on Sunday in the Unterhaching sports park. Then the decision is made as to whether Cottbus or Haching will buy the ticket for the third division.
