First CO2 storage started in the Danish North Sea – economy

Denmark is starting a project in which an old oil field will become a CO₂ storage facility. Could such plants help to solve the climate problem?

The frame could hardly have been bigger. Crown Prince Frederik was there, Danish Climate Minister Lars Aagaard, and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also spoke important words (via video link): On Wednesday, the world’s first underground CO₂ storage facility was inaugurated in Esbjerg, Denmark, for whose infrastructure 23 companies and Partner organizations work together, above all the two oil companies Wintershall and Ineos.
