The first rumors are here!
It will probably be a while before the Samsung Galaxy S23 is launched, but there are already rumors about the upcoming flagship smartphones. Accordingly, Samsung should actually use the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC worldwide and forgo a variant with its own Exynos 2300 SoC.
Samsung is currently more likely to start the new Foldable Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 have in focus. According to current leaks, the unpacked event for this on August 10th occur. But the manufacturer should also be deep in development for the next generation of the Galaxy S series. The main question then is: Does Samsung set the Two chip strategy gone?
Already last year there was for the not yet presented Galaxy S22 some rumoursthat Samsung would rely on a Snapdragon chip worldwide due to the semiconductor crisis. Finally, with the Exynos 2200, an in-house SoC made it into smartphones – including the Galaxy S22 Ultra (Review).
As the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo announced on Twitter, Samsung could probably “lose out” in the coming year and rely purely on a Snapdragon SoC. The reason for this is the 4 nm manufacturing at TSMC to which the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (SM8550) is explicitly optimized. A possible Exynos opponent could as regards performance and efficiency just can’t keep up, says Kuo.
Samsung’s own Galaxy Silicon from 2025?

From 2025, however, Samsung could have one newly developed “Galaxy silicon“ plug into their smartphones, which – similar to the Apple A series (e.g. A15 Bionic) – is optimized for the flagship smartphones. Exynos development and production could be shut down by then, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet. In general, these are rumors that you always use with caution should.
