It was supposed to be announced on Monday, but the final election result has already leaked out. The SPD remains in second place, but only with a wafer-thin lead over the Greens. The question remains: what does Franziska Giffey do?
Even before the final election result was announced by the state election committee on Monday, the first information leaked to the public. First the “Picture“-Newspaper reported about it.
In the documents, which are also available to rbb, the SPD is only 53 votes ahead of the Greens in second place. The gap between the SPD and the Greens has thus narrowed again. The CDU received 428,228 votes and thus 28.2 percent.
Committee circles say that the meeting documents were sent to all members of the state election committee on Friday evening. It is unclear how the information became public. The final election result will only be decided on Monday by the state electoral committee and only then will it be an official final result in legal terms.
Almost two weeks after the memorable repeat election, it has not yet been decided who will govern the city with whom and what will become of the woman in the Red City Hall. “We are exploring with an open mind,” says Franziska Giffey, describing the state of uncertainty. Just as open as the coalition question is at the moment what will become of it.
But even as Giffey’s lead over the Greens has shrunk to 53 votes, she insists on her claim to continue as Governing Mayor. “I came to stay,” Giffey said during the campaign. Anyone watching them might well get the idea that one has found her dream job here. Giffey would have to continue the red-green-red coalition for this, even if it is not their heart alliance.
