Liam Neeson is back in front of the camera as “Ice Driver” Mike McCann. This time we’re going to Nepal – but that’s currently in Australia.

Hollywood star Liam Neeson (71) is filming a new action drama in a former Australian gold mining town. The actor (“Schindler’s List”) was spotted this week in Walhalla in the state of Victoria, where numerous onlookers watched him at work, Australian media reported. Parts of the 2021 sequel to “The Ice Road” are currently being filmed in the town east of Melbourne, where only around 20 people now live. Neeson once again portrays “Ice Driver” Mike McCann, an expert at maneuvering on ice roads.

While the first part took place in a remote region of Canada, in “Ice Road 2: Road To The Sky” McCann has to deal with malicious mercenaries in Nepal. The small Australian town was partially redesigned for the thriller, Sky News Australia reported. Several buildings were painted in bright colors and decorated with Nepalese signs and props. After filming is finished next week, everything will be returned to its original condition.

Born in Northern Ireland, Neeson has made dozens of films since the 1980s, including numerous blockbusters such as Batman Begins, Michael Collins and Les Misérables. “I’ve seen countless of his films,” an Australian onlooker in Valhalla told 7News. “This is totally exciting.” Hollywood has often used Australia as a film location for years.
