The 58-year-old Frenchwoman will receive the award for her entire career in September at the Kursaal Auditorium in the northern Spanish city, the festival organizers said on Friday. Binoche is “one of the most international actresses in Europe,” it said.

In addition to numerous other awards, Binoche received the Oscar for best supporting actress in 1997 for her role in the film “The English Patient”. The screen star from Paris worked under directors such as Krzysztof Kieslowski, Chantal Akerman, David Cronenberg, Claire Denis, Martin Provost and Michael Haneke.

The 70th edition of the «Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián» will take place between September 16th and 24th. It is the most important film festival in Spain. The trophy is named after the shape of the bay on which the Basque metropolis is situated.
