Daniel Brühl loves Mallorca and wants to film on the island

It is the Germans’ favorite island – and Daniel Brühl is also very enthusiastic about Mallorca. The film star is already making plans.
The actor and film director, who was born in Barcelona and grew up in Cologne, was awarded the “Evolution Icon Award” by the organizers of the festival on Wednesday. At the end of the event, his latest film “The Movie Teller” will be shown in Palma.
Brühl told journalists in Palma that he has been coming to Mallorca regularly for 20 years. “I knew the island from Germany as a place for drunks, where people jump from balconies. But my Spanish uncle Juan always raved about the beauty of Mallorca.”
He commutes a lot
However, the actor denied rumors that he had moved to Spain. “I’m still a Berliner. I’ve been asked a lot lately: Where do you live now? To be honest, I don’t even want to comment on it anymore.” He emphasized: “I come from both countries and commute a lot.”
Next year the actor can be seen as fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld in a Disney series. He is currently working as a director on a new work. But he didn’t want to reveal what it was about in Mallorca.
The Berlin actress Sandra Lipski founded the film festival on the holiday island eleven years ago. Through her network, she has attracted Hollywood stars like Danny DeVito to Palma in recent years. In addition to Brühl, the Spanish director Isabel Coixet and the American cameraman and Oscar winner Erik Messerschmidt also received an award this year.
