Several people were killed and injured in an attack at a hospital in southwest China. As the Police in Zhenxiong County said a man attacked people in the clinic with a knife a few hours earlier. Two people died and 21 others were injured. According to information, the man came from a village in the county, which is located in the north of Yunnan province. The authorities did not provide any further information about the perpetrator or the victims.
The state news agency Xinhua had previously reported at least ten victims. However, it was initially unclear how many people were injured or died. The report initially did not provide any information about the alleged perpetrator.
According to Xinhua, the attack happened in the early afternoon (local time). The police said the crime occurred shortly before noon. On Weibo, China’s platform X (formerly Twitter), users shared videos showing the alleged perpetrator being arrested. Other videos or photos showed people bleeding on the ground. According to police, the injured were treated in the clinic. Investigators opened an investigation into the case.
