The Netherlands and Denmark want Western-style fighter jets for Ukraine F-16 delivery. The decision comes shortly after the US announced approvals for the transfer. It is consistent and has been prepared for months. Eleven NATO countries are involved in training Ukrainian pilots; US President Joe Biden had already approved this in May. The two countries are thus assuming a leading role in providing military support for Kiev and, above all, are sending a politically important signal: the Europeans are prepared to support Ukraine in the long term. The machines will not be able to be used until next spring at the earliest.
