Extremely violent blows which left his partner seriously disabled. Thursday evening, a 48-year-old man living in Carhaix was sentenced by the Finistère Assize Court to fifteen years in prison for acts of domestic violence followed by mutilation or permanent disability. According to the Telegramthe accused received the maximum sentence after two days of hearing.
The 62-year-old victim, who became quadriplegic, is still hospitalized in a rehabilitation establishment, and only moves around in a wheelchair, indicates the newspaper West France. The alleged acts, which took place in the spring of 2021 after regular violence, caused hematomas, bruises, abrasions all over his body and broken necks.
During the trial, the accused admitted to having struck but assured that his partner, with whom he had “a toxic relationship” based on alcohol, had fallen alone that evening.
