Fewer chocolate Santa Clauses are being produced – economy

The German confectionery industry produced around 167 million chocolate Santa Clauses and Santa Clauses this year. That is one percent less than in the previous year. The Federal Association of the German Confectionery Industry (BDSI) announced this on Friday. “In difficult and uncertain times, it becomes clear that confectionery is one of the little joys of everyday life. This is especially true for the popular chocolate Santas, who bring a lot of joy on the upcoming St. Nicholas Day and Christmas,” says Managing Director Carsten Bernoth.

According to a spokeswoman, the reasons for the slight decline are inflation and the good weather in October. As a result, many people’s desire for chocolate Santa Clauses and Santa Clauses was not that great at the start of sales. According to BDSI, almost two thirds of the chocolate Santa Clauses and Santa Clauses were delivered to German grocery stores, department stores and specialist retailers in the past few weeks. More than a third was exported abroad.
