Festival in Nevada: toilets are overflowing, supplies are running out and (yet) no way out: the devastating conditions at "Burning Man"

The “Burning Man” festival in the Nevada desert will be a disaster this year. Due to heavy rainstorms, about 70,000 guests are stuck while supplies slowly run out.

Around 70,000 guests are still stuck on the grounds of the “Burning Man” festival in the US state of Nevada. Torrential rain turned the cultural event into a mud fight. The authorities in the US state asked people on Sunday (local time) to stay at the huge event site in Black Rock City for the time being. The festival was supposed to end on Monday. However, it was feared that visitors could be blocked until Tuesday or Wednesday.

The festival site is more than ten kilometers from the nearest residential buildings, and the nearby airport is also closed. There is only one road leading to and from the festival – and it is impassable. Anyone who tries to escape will get stuck in the mud with the vehicle.

Organizers also urged festivalgoers to “save food, water and fuel” and take shelter in a “warm, safe place.” One person has already died, but the organizers have not announced any details.
