When the initiator of the Herrenchiemsee Festival, the conductor Enoch zu Guttenberg, died unexpectedly in 2018, the two had their hands full again to save the festival: Georg von Waldenfels, as chairman of the Festival Promotion Association, and Kurt Faltlhauser, as chairman of its board of trustees, both once held the office of Bavarian finance minister for the CSU, both continued their cultural commitment long after their terms of office.
Now they are announcing their withdrawal from Herrenchiemsee and handing over the baton: Waldenfels will be succeeded at the head of the association by former Minister of Art Bernd Sibler (CSU), now district administrator in Deggendorf, Faltlhauser being followed by entrepreneur Philipp Schieferdecker from Rosenheim.
