Was it really his “possibly last show in England”? Elton John plays at the Glastonbury Festival and celebrates his farewell to the stage.

British pop star Elton John said goodbye to his fans in England on Sunday evening at the Glastonbury music festival with a celebrated performance. “This is a very special and emotional evening for me because it could be the last performance in England,” said the 76-year-old to the festival-goers. Elton John thanked for “52 years of wonderful love and loyalty” and called out to the cheering fans: “I will never forget you.”

For Elton John it was the first appearance at the famous festival in the English county of Somerset. According to the BBC, an estimated 120,000 music fans had gathered at the site near Glastonbury. Elton John performed a number of his big hits like “Rocket Man”, “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down” and “Candle In The Wind”.

Elton John wants to end his Farewell Yellow Brick Road farewell tour, which was partially delayed by the pandemic, with a concert in Stockholm this summer. At the beginning of July he is expected, among other things, for two more appearances in Zurich. He had announced that he would then step down in order to be able to spend more time with his husband David Furnish and their two sons. The big stars at this year’s Glastonbury Festival included Cat Stevens/Yusuf and the US rock band Blondie.
