According to the Verdi boss, the “hiccup about the heating law” is “simply unworthy”. He warns of a “picture of inner turmoil” – and has a suggestion for Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Verdi boss Frank Werneke has sharply criticized the appearance of the traffic light government to the outside world. “I am completely dissatisfied with the external presentation,” said Werneke to the newspapers of the Funke media group. “What bothers me is the traffic light’s inability to organize processes without creating an image of inner turmoil.” In his opinion, the debate culture of the coalition of SPD, Greens and FDP is not in order.

The traffic light did some things right. “The recent bickering about the heating law, on the other hand, was simply unworthy,” said the union boss. After a long struggle, the coalition cleared the way for the building energy law, which is also known as the heating law, just a few days ago.

When asked whether he would like more leadership from Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), the Verdi boss replied: “I find a style of government in which the boss constantly speaks a word of power is no longer up to date.” Werneke said he thought it would be helpful if Scholz would “classify and explain things publicly more often”.
