“Women achieve great things in our society,” says Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Whether in clubs, companies or universities, women would ensure “cohesion, humanity, progress and creativity”. They not only deserve thanks for this, but also “more visible recognition”. The Federal President has therefore introduced a quota for women when conferring orders. In the future, at least 40 percent of the Federal Crosses of Merit should go to women.
